To get rational skill and knowledge we need rational learning style. Before the start new learning we need to do self-assignment about own skill and knowledge. Before the start of new thing to prepare the personal development plan (PDP) is so reasonable manner. How would we define a personal development plan? Well I would define it as a plan we make for our self to achieve something in our life. What do we wish to accomplish? Do you want to start a wholesale business? Do we want to get a new career? Whatever it is our wish to do we will need to define a personal development plan and put begin to put it into action. The PDP has given us the fully guide line of our learning. What is Personal Development Plan (PDP) In the general sense personal Development Plan is that kinds of plan which we prepared to before the start of our work to made the success of our goal. In the PDP we analysis of our exacting skill and ability, and what goal we need to achieve after the work this all thing include in the PDP. It is a kinds of working plan. Personal Development Planning can be defined as a process that helps you to think about your own learning, performance and/or achievements and to plan for your personal, educational and career development.  [1]   Therefore under the PDP include of this thing: Current proficiency. What is the skill which is going to learn How and with whom is going to learn new skill Learning or working time scale Criteria for judging success The evidence of learn or work. In this way, PDP is that thing it help to us to know what we going to do , what skill I have available and what result is came it all thing and as well as it help to systematic and achievable of our work. Significance of a PDP for University student PDP has played a most significance role for a university student like me. A student main goal and purpose is to learn new skill and knowledge. For example I came in UK to study of business management. After the study I want to learn newly management related skill and knowledge. To learn new skill and knowledge I spend my money and time in the UK. When I learn about the PDP then I also made my PDP and now I have implement it in my existing student life it help to me so much to effective learning. For example after the study of management research project and presentation I had learn the skill of how to prepare the project? How to present it with other? How to answer the question of participator? How to manage the feedback? How to solve the problem? In here, my PDP has support to me made a confidence of that work. PDP is the so important of a university student. PDP has encourage to student to learn a new skill and knowledge. It give a clear vision of the student learning. It give a clarity of what is learning and how it is going to learn. I give a method of learning for the student. PDP has identify the what skill already to learner and what skill need to learn. From the PDP what skill I am success to learn and what skill I did not learn it also identify. By the PDP we can know what should be need to do in the next stapes as well. In the conclusion, we can said PDP has help to us to manage our time, work, learn and as well as it give a vision of our future and help to made of our future planning therefore PDP has play must significance role in the university student. 4. Implement of my PDP, suggest and explain of my Action plan. When I understand the significant of PDP for a student then I also prepared and implementing of my PDP. My learning goal is to make a success manager so my purpose is to stay in UK and study of business management. I want to learn communication skill, team working skill, leadership skill, decision-making skill, problem-solving skill, organization operation skill, under one year time period. As well as I want to learn the theoretic knowledge of commerce, business, and management. For that purpose now I am studying in LSBM in postgraduate level of APDMS course. Action Planning helps me to identify and set targets, documenting a thought out strategy. A well written action plan will be clear in its intentions, unambiguous and focussed. After the self-review I can learn how many skill and knowledge and how many I did not learn? To know our success and unsuccessful part we can made a further strategy. And we get the chance to improve ourself. . After the self-review mainly we can learn following thing: Is our work going to meet the personal goal. What I do well and where I can improve. My personality and personal quality. What if fiend motivating and what interests. How I learn best. Self review help to us to remove the coming learning obstacle and keep the alert position in all time as well as give the opportunity to improve of our PDP. 6. Self-review influence on the Effectiveness of my Individual Learning Self-review has important influence in my learning. I failed in some module in my first semester after that I doing my self-review and asked the question why I failed? When I did my self-review I find out, in the past time I studied in Nepal in theoretical base but in UK study method is practical base method so there is learning style is not matching and I did not learn properly and I failed in the exam. And the other reason is, in Nepal my study method is Nepali medium but in England I am studying in English medium first chance. The is reason of language weakness I did not learn so many thing as well as I could not expresses of my learn thing also so I failed in the exam. Main this two thing I find out after my self- review and now I am try to remove that my weakness and going to made more effective of my study. 7. Conclusion: There is so important of Personal Development of a university student. So there should be need to prepare and implement a PDP for a university student. PDP has encouraged studying a student. A studentà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢s PDP has helped the student to identified, what I learn? What should be needed to learn? What is the action of learning? Which skill has I learn? and what is my progress etc. In this way PDP has help to got a student object and give the clear guideline. In my experience PDP has help me to learn many kinds of business management related skill which I want to learn. For that purpose I did self-review of my PDP in time to time. Self-review has identify to me my weakness of learning when I identify of my weakness I have improvement that and go ahead. In this way self-review has brought to effectiveness in my learning process. Especially after my self-review I get the chance to improvement my language and practical base study method. Killings vs. In the Bedroom I really enjoyed the short story â€Å"Killings† written by Andre Dubus. I felt the story was very dark and depressing but what intrigued me most about the story was how close to real life it was. Todd Field’s interpretation â€Å"In the Bedroom† was an excellent rendition of the short story. He captured the story very well and really brought it to life on the big screen. The short story really portrays the society we live in. You hear every day about domestic violence that results in someone getting hurt or killed. The story tells about a young man involved with a woman separated from her jealous husband that results in the young man’s death. The parents of the young man play a big role in the story as well. Killings starts off with the young man Frank Fowler already killed and goes directly into the aftermath of his death. In the Bedroom begins with the relationship of Frank and Natalie while they were dating. I think the way the movie began was better because it lets you see more into the relationship of Frank and Natalie. The movie allows you to get attached to the characters which I feel caused more of an impact when Frank was killed by Natalie’s husband Richard. The movie also shows more detail of why Frank’s parents were against his relationship with Natalie. Marrero 2 The short story gives more back ground into the type of person Richard Strout was. It explains more of his upbringing. The movie mainly portrays him as the angry jealous husband but not much of his background was explained except that he came from a wealthy family that owns a local company. Both versions do show him as a jealous cold hearted individual that shows no remorse for what he had done to Frank. The part of the short story where Frank comes home after having his first confrontation with Richard was a bit different from the movie. The part when Frank comes home and he’s all bruised up was the same except in the short story Matt tells Frank to â€Å"press charges†(50). He also says to Frank â€Å"What’s to stop him from doing it again? †(50). In the movie, Ruth Fowler is the one who says this to Frank and Matt. She is upset that Frank and his father are so laid back about the whole incident. I think this scene was key as to why Ruth had so much animosity towards Matt after Frank died. One of the qualities of the film that I thought was very clever was how Director Todd Field chose to not use any background music. The majority of movies use music to help bring out what the scene is about but this movie didn’t do that and it worked. It was almost like watching a reality show. It concentrated on the characters and the story line to keep viewers glued to the screen. You knew that something would eventually happen but you had no idea when and how. There was no soft or powerful music in any of the scenes to give you an idea of what was going to happen. It was excellent filming with no special effects or music. Many scenes showing Matt Fowler and his wife’s marriage falling apart were silent and the absence of background music made those scenes powerful. I think it helped to keep the audience in touch with the pain that the parents were experiencing from the death of their son. Marrero 3 The cinematography of the film was also very instrumental on the overall feeling of the movie. There wasn’t much color in the film, almost as if it was a cloudy day in every scene. The way the people dressed and even how the homes looked were very drab and bland. I think this helped to demonstrate the sadness that the parents and Natalie felt after Frank was killed. Kind of the same effect background music would have on a film. If you want the audience to feel sadness while watching a particular scene there would be sad music in the background. The entire story was sad and the cinematography helped convey that in the film. Another difference between the movie and the film was the part when Frank was shot by Richard Strout. In the short story Frank was already at Mary Ann’s house watching television with the boys in the living room while she was in the kitchen. Richard walked through the front door and shot Frank several times in front of the boys (53). In the movie, Frank was shot in the living room after coming to see if Natalie and the boys were ok after a confrontation she just had with Richard. Natalie and the boys were upstairs while Frank went downstairs to keep Richard out of the house. Richard found a way in and shot Frank several times. This was such a graphic scene, just the same as the short story. The way the film portrayed this scene worked very well. It really caused drama and suspense in the film. It was a scary moment that was very disturbing to watch. Near the end of the short story and the film was when Matt held Richard at gun point. Matt decides to take matters into his own hands because the courts failed to convict Richard. It was also causing Matt’s wife emotional stress seeing Richard in town on several occasions. This was a great part to both the story and the film because it left the reader and the viewer wondering what was going to happen next. You weren’t sure whether Matt would kill Richard or let him go. Marrero 4 It was an intense moment in both the film and short story when Richard was driving while Matt steadily held the gun to Richard’s head, telling him to â€Å"Drive slowly,† Don’t try to get stopped† (55). You could feel the suspense as to what might happen next. Richard was clearly scared but all the while held true to his belief that he was justified for what he did to Frank. Just the fact that he told Matt â€Å"He was making it with my wife† (56) while Matt is pointing a gun at him shows he had no remorse for his actions. Matt continued to mentally manipulate Richard into thinking he would be set free to live his life on the run. Every time Richard would ask Matt what he was doing, Matt would not give him an answer. He tells Richard to pack his suitcase once they reached his home and then went back into the vehicle to drive some more. Matt had Richard drive to Matt’s best friend’s property. This is where he killed Richard. In the film Matt had Richard get out of the car and shot him on impulse. In the short story Matt told Richard to walk with his suitcase for which Richard dropped it and started to run. That is when Matt shot him several times. In both the film and the movie, Richard was buried on Matt’s best friend’s property. Both the short story and the film had you glued in suspense. The short story went into more detail as to what Matt was psychologically going through after killing Richard. During Matt’s drive home the author described how Matt was feeling about what he had just done. Matt was reliving the moment in his mind when he shot Richard, feeling as if someone else did it and not him. Matt’s best friend in both the movie and the short story was very instrumental on helping him carry out his revenge against Richard. The two of them shared a strong bond of friendship and brotherhood being they both served in the military together. They both trusted each other unconditionally knowing that this was something they both would keep a secret until the end. Their military background which was not outwardly mentioned in the story but was an important Marrero 5 factor allowing them to carry out Richard’s murder. In Matt’s mind he felt he had no other choice then to kill Richard and he was fine with his decision. The end of the story was when Matt gets home and see’s his wife waiting for him. In the short story she said to him â€Å"Did you do it? † (63). He tells her everything that took place and is very emotional about it, feeling sympathy for Richard’s girl friend and thinking of Frank and Mary Ann (Natalie in the film). In the film, Matt walks into the house and changes his clothes before going to the room where his wife is waiting. They don’t really speak of what happened. It is understood that Ruth knew what he did without even asking. For the first time since Frank’s death Ruth shows Matt affection by offering to make him breakfast. The film ends with Matt lying in bed alone with a look of sadness on his face. Overall I felt Killings was excellent, fitting so much into a short story. The film was done extremely well illustrating the story but also added just enough to make it even more intriguing. Both the movie and the short story left you feeling a bit empty inside, as if you experienced the sorrow and pain that the parents were going through. There really wasn’t a happy ending in either version just an understanding of the pain that is caused by losing a child.

National Curriculum for USA

Since the early 1980†³s, the issue of America†s faltering public school system has become a serious concern. The crisis in K-12 education is one of the biggest challenges facing the nation. Should there be set standardized tests given to students, and furthermore, should the United States adopt a national curriculum to keep up with the standards of other countries? Lynn Davey and Monty Neill suggest in their essay entitled, â€Å"The Case against a National Test† that, â€Å"U. S. olicymakers and the public have been deluged with proposals for national testing†, because the failure of the nation to adequately educate the students of America has an endless list of negative effects. The pathetically low results of American students through international test scores in the United States suggests that with the lack of proper education, generations of children are growing up without the basic, essential knowledge needed to be able to compete in the workplace. Lynn Davey also states, â€Å"But because the United States has no national system of achievement testing, we cannot validly compare students† performance across the nation†, in her essay entitled â€Å"The Case for a National Test†. Albert Shanker, who was president of the American Federation of Teachers claims in his essay entitled, â€Å"Are American Schools Too Easy? † that, â€Å"In countries where there is a national curriculum, fewer students are lost, and fewer teachers are lost because they know what the students who walk into their classroom have already studied†(122). This is a good point, but in the United States students and teachers are allowed to express their ideas creatively. Not all teachers in the U. S. teach in the same manner, and for this reason it would be hard to establish a national curriculum in which all teachers taught the same things at the same time. In his essay entitled, â€Å"The Tyranny of a National Curriculum† Marc Bernstein suggests that, â€Å"People that support a national testing program believe that too many students are failing to perform to their potential and that drastic steps need to be taken to improve their education†. But what American students need is school reform, not more testing. â€Å"More test scores will not magically produce educational improvement† (Davey & Neill). The people that support national testing should slow down for a moment and realize that testing is not the first step in learning, and start focusing on helping students in rural towns as opposed to larger cities. While there are real differences in the educational opportunities of poor and rich students, standardized tests exaggerate these differences by their biases and confuse lack of ability with lack of exposure† (Davey & Neill). â€Å"France and Japan, for instance, have strict national curriculums† (Davey). â€Å"Since a government agency decides educational content, if the agency makes a mistake, all schools are forced to go along with it. Such a risk can be avoided if the power to decide educational content is transferred to state and local governments† (Chapter 3). The American educational system operates in this way, leaving the choices for educational content up to the 50 state and local governments. This is beneficial to the United States because with such a diverse population it leaves the door open to adjust content if needed to suit certain schools in different towns and cities. Freedom is the trademark of America, and people of other countries because of this admire Americans. The American educational system tries to develop freedom and creativity among its students. It allows students to explore their ideas freely and teaches them to believe they can do anything they put their minds to. One can say that the American educational system is different from other countries educational systems. However, one cannot express the idea that the American system is worse than any other educational system. Sure the system does need some reform, but to drastically say we need a national curriculum, I think not.

The aim of this research is to understand the impact of brand communities embedded on Social Networking Sites on brand commitment. The causes and consequences of this commitment would be studied and the field research would be conducted on multiple samples as we plan to prove that different types of brand categories elicit different responses in this context. INTRODUCTION It has now been established that brand communities are a privileged link between companies and consumers. Their impact on brand commitment, loyalty and equity has also been widely documented (Muniz O’Guinn, 2001; Fournier Lee, 2009). Mc Alexander, Schouten Koenig (2002) even argue that consumer’s relationships with, and attitudes towards the brand are highly influenced by the social interactions between community members. Moreover, the online version of brand communities has existed and been examined in numerous articles (Rothaermel Sugiyama, 2001; Sicilia Palazon, 2008; Hagel and Armstrong, 1997; Muniz O’Guinn, 2001; Fournier Lee, 2009; McAlexander et al., 2002). Still, recently, new forms of online brand communities have emerged due to the rise of the Web 2.0, and they call for more oriented research.
